The heavy rain that lashed parts of Hassan district on Friday left several houses damaged partially, uprooted many trees and damaged several electric poles, disrupting power supply in many areas including parts of the city.
A house in Hanumanthapura village in Hassan taluk was damaged when a tree fell on its roof. Two inmates of the house suffered minor injuries in the incident. Similarly, four houses in Kirugadale in Alur taluk were also damaged. As many as 10 electric poles fell in Tannerhalla extension in the city. Power supply was disrupted in the area, following damage caused to electric poles. Residents of the locality staged a protest alleging that the CESC officers had not responded to their woes even after hours of being informed of the damage.
The movement of vehicles on the Bangalore-Mangalore road was stalled for couple of hours on Friday afternoon, after a tree fell on the road near Bharatavalli in Alur taluk.
