Several parts of Chitradurga district witnessed heavy rain on Monday night.

According to the district administration, the rain damaged 16 houses in the district and destroyed nearly 30 acres of banana crop. Six houses were reportedly damaged in Obalapur village of Hosadurga taluk, while nearly 20 acres of banana plantation were damaged in Chikkahalli and Katrikenhatti villages of Challakere taluk.

Several trees were also uprooted in the heavy downpour. Power supply was disrupted in many parts of the district including Chitradurga city, and was restored only at around 2 a.m.

Rainfall details

According to the Meteorology Department, Hosadurga taluk received an average of 51.1 mm rainfall, followed by Chitradurga with 22.5 mm. Muthod hobli of Hosadurga taluk received the highest rainfall of 80 mm while Hosadurga town received 70.4 mm. This was followed by H.D. Pura village in Holalkere which received 64 mm rainfall.
