Heavy rain disrupted life in Bidar on Sunday with three hours of wind, heavy rain and sandstorms in parts of Bidar, Humnabad and Aurad forced most people to stay indoors. Several areas like labour colony, Vidya Nagar, Basava Nagar and Bidri colony were flooded.

Rainfall was heavy in Bidar and Humnabad, while it was below the monthly average in Aurad, Bhalki and Basava Kalyan. Officials said 120 mm of rain was received in the five taluks in one day.

Rainfall pattern is odd and scattered. This is not seasonal. It is the result of a south-western anomaly, agriculture department officials said. Officers said mild to heavy rainfall was expected in the coming three days.

A huge tree, in front of the historic Madrassa of Mahamud Gawan fell to the ground. A school bus and three bikes were damaged. No one was hurt.
