The Hyderabad Karnataka and Bombay Karnataka regions continued to be under a severe spell of heat wave conditions with the mercury raising at an alarming level in most part of the region.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that such severe conditions will prevail for the next 48 hours.
While the state’s highest maximum temperature of 45 degree Celsius was recorded in Kalaburagi continued for second day according to IMD at 8.30 a.m. on Friday, Bidar recorded a temperature of 44 degree Celsius. This is a first for Bidar in recent years recent years. Raichur recorded a maximum temperature of 43.4 degree Celsius.
The temperature of 45 degree Celsius recorded in Kalaburagi and 44 degree Celsius recorded in Bidar was five degree Celsius each more than the temperatures recorded in the two centres on the same day, last year. The 43.4 degree Celsius temperature recorded in Raichur and 42.4 degree Celsius recorded in Vijayapura was also three degree Celsius each more than the average temperatures recorded on the same day, last year.
Other parts of the Hyderabad Karnataka region including Ballari and Koppal were also under the spell of heatwave conditions with 40 degree celsius.
The night temperatures also rose in the Hyderabad Karnataka region with Bidar recording the state’s highest minimum temperature of 30 degree Celsius, followed by Kalaburagi recording 28 degree Celsius and Raichur and Ballari recording a minimum temperature of 27 and 25 degree Celsius respectively.
