Health booths to cater to the health needs of labourers and mobile health units would be launched in and around the city as part of the ‘National Urban Health Campaign’, Minister for Health and Family Welfare U.T. Khadar has said.

Khadar said he wanted to make Mangalore ‘the healthiest city’, along with Ullal, Bagalkot, Bangalore and Mysore.

The five year ‘National Urban Health Campaign’ would be launched by the District Health and Family Welfare Society on October 25, he told reporters here yesterday.

The service of Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANM) would be made available in the proposed booths. Ten primary health centres (PHC) would be opened. The local MLA and corporation officials would be in charge of the PHCs, he said.

Mayor Mahabala Maarla, Deputy Mayor Kavitha, MLA J R Lobo, Zilla Parishad CEO Tulasi Maddineni and others were present.
