Janata Dal (Secular) MLA Chikkamadu S., representing H.D. Kote Assembly constituency in Mysuru district, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday.

Chikkamadu (68), who was ailing for the last couple of weeks, breathed his last at a private hospital in Mysuru. He leaves behind his family members, including four children.

His body will be kept in H.D. Kote for the public to pay their last respects before being taken away to his native Hosa Ramanahalli in Hunsur taluk near here.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is scheduled to fly to H.D. Kote to pay his last respects.

Chikkamadu had earlier represented Hunsur as a Congress MLA. He had also served as a JD(S) MLC before contesting from H.D. Kote (Reserved) Assembly constituency from the JD(S) during the Assembly polls in 2013.
