HC notice to Karnataka, RGUHS

September 13, 2013 12:13 pm | Updated June 02, 2016 11:39 am IST - Bangalore:

The Karnataka High Court has ordered issue of notice to the State government and the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) on a petition alleging that most of the nursing colleges in the State are indulging in fraud during admission of students.

The petition also alleges that colleges indulge in illegalities and malpractices in the conduct of nursing courses in connivance with the university.

A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice D.H. Waghel and Justice B.V. Nagarathna passed the order on Wednesday on a public interest litigation petition filed by the Association of Malayali Students Studying in Karnataka. The association has sought a direction from the court to order a probe by an independent agency such as the Central Bureau of Investigation or the Lokayukta or the Criminal Investigation Department into the alleged fraud and illegalities.
