The Hanuma Jayanti procession, which was cancelled amid the outbreak of trouble on December 3 in Hunsur near here, will now be taken out on January 27 on a revised route.

Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru D. Randeep has issued orders permitting the organisers of Hanuma Jayanti procession to take out the procession on a changed route.

The December 3 procession had been cancelled by the authorities after a group led by Pratap Simha, BJP MP for Mysuru, demanded a change in the route. The district administration, in its order issued on January 18, has permitted the organisers to take out the procession from Ranganath Extension and proceed through Kalkunike Circle, Hotel Shabari Prasad, Hotel Devi Prasad, Old Bridge, Rotary Circle, Old Bus Stand and New Bus Stand before concluding in Manjunatha Temple.

The order refers to the deliberations held during the January 4 meeting attended by the district administration officials including the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police Ravi Channanavar, besides various officials of Hunsur town and representatives of different communities.

During the deliberations it was suggested that Hanuma Jayanti celebrations should not be restricted to a festival of one particular group. Instead, people from different communities should be involved in the organising committee of the festival.

Subsequently, the Sub-Divisional Commissioner of Hunsur Sub-Division submitted a report on the revised route for the procession on January 6 based on which the Deputy Commissioner has issued orders permitted the procession on the changed route on January 27.
