In an attempt to help the economically disadvantaged women in Bangalore, Banna Creations and the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) are jointly organising a free vocational handicraft training programme for women and young girls who live in the slums of Bangalore.

According to a press release, the programme involves hands-on training in hand embroidery, fixing sari tassels, making cloth and paper bags and jewellery making. Banna Creations aims to provide an opportunity to women in slums to earn their livelihood using skills that they are trained in. Considering this as a start, the organisation hopes to set up a system where craft works are made and sold by women. The organisers have invited citizens with an interest to train these women in handicraft making to be a part of the programme.
