Halt at Arsikere sought

January 12, 2015 01:35 pm | Updated 01:35 pm IST - MYSURU:

The stakeholders made a strong case for a halt for train numbers 12629/12630 and 22685/22686 (Sampark Kranti Express) at Arsikere junction.

It was argued that Sampark Kranti trains were introduced to provide efficient connectivity between the State and the National capital and these trains were given halts in the State of its origin to benefit the people of those States. On crossing over to the other States these trains have no commercial halts, though there could be technical halts.

However, train numbers 12629/12630 and 22685 and 22686 Karnataka Sampark Kranti trains have only four halts in the State. In comparison, the Andhra Pradesh Sampark Kranti has 15 halts and Tamil Nadu Sampark Kranti has nine halts. If a halt was given at Arsikere, it would benefit people in nearby districts who at present have to go to Yeshwantpur to board the train.
