H1N1 patient battling for life

A 62-year-old person from Nipani of Chikkodi taluk suffering from suspected A (H1N1) influenza is battling for life at the intensive care unit of a private hospital. He is among the four persons tested positive for H1N1.

According to District Surveillance Officer here on Saturday, samples of swab from the nose and throat of seven persons were sent to Manipal Centre for Virus Research. Four of them were tested positive.

Since January, 42 persons have been treated in the district for the disease. However, only eight of them were confirmed.
