The district has consistently recorded the State’s highest maximum temperature, 42.2 degrees Celsius according to the summary of observations recorded by the Indian Meteorological Department on Monday.

The entire Hyderabad Karnataka region finds no respite from what may be the worst heatwave the State faced in years. Other districts in the region, such as Raichur, Bellary and Koppal, have also recorded a steep increase in maximum temperature. Raichur recorded a maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius; Bellary 41 degrees Celsius; and Koppal 40 degrees Celsius.

Sources in the IMD said here on Monday that Bijapur, Gadag, and Haveri recorded an identical maximum temperature of 39 degrees Celsius, while Dharwad and Belgaum airport reached 38 degrees Celsius.

Bellary recorded the State’s highest minimum temperature, 25 degrees Celsius, followed by Gulbarga, Raichur and Bijapur at 24 degrees Celsius.

The IMD said rain or thundershowers could occur at isolated places in south-interior Karnataka. Dry weather would prevail in coastal and north-interior Karnataka, including the Hyderabad Karnataka and Bombay Karnataka regions. There will not be any significant change in weather in the next 48 hours.
