The district recorded a maximum temperature of 43.4 degrees Celsius, barely .4 degrees lower than the temperature recorded on Thursday, according to the summary of observations from the Indian Meteorological Department at 8.30 a.m. on Friday.
This is also three degrees higher than the average maximum temperature recorded during this period in the past, according to the IMD.
The district found no respite in the night either, recording a minimum temperature of 28 degrees Celsius, which is the highest in the State.
Raichur recorded a maximum temperature of 43 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 27 degrees Celsius. Bijapur in Mumbai-Karnataka recorded a maximum temperature of 41 degrees Celsius; at night, however, the temperature fell to 23 degrees Celsius. In the Hyderabad-Karnataka region, Koppal and Bellary recorded the same maximum temperature of 39 degrees Celsius. Koppal’s minimum temperature was 25 degrees Celsius while Bellary’s was 1 degree higher.
Sources in the IMD said light to moderate rain would occur over coastal, north-interior and south-interior Karnataka. No significant changes are expected within the next 24 hours.
