Member of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Manifesto Committee V.R. Sudarshan has said that Gujarat, although geographically smaller than Karnataka, had taken more loans.
Replying to queries during a press conference here on Saturday, Mr. Sudarshan said that as on date, the loans raised by the Gujarat government stood at ₹ 2,23,400 crore compared to ₹ 1,73,800 crore of Karnataka. “The BJP leaders who keep raising the issue should also learn to mention about the loans of Gujarat, while mentioning about the Gujarat model”, he said.
Mr. Sudarshan also took a dig at Dharwad MP and former BJP State president Pralhad Joshi saying that Mr. Joshi didn’t have interest in taking up discussion on such issues as he knew that they would be exposed.
On the comments of senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyer and subsequent action against him, Mr. Sudarshan sought to know from Mr. Joshi and other BJP leaders whether any action had been taken against BJP leaders who had earlier indulged in ‘below the belt’ remarks.
White paper
He said already it was already well known that due to wrong decisions by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on demonetisation and Goods and Services Tax, the country’s economy had been adversely hit. “We demand Mr. Modi to release a white paper on the economical impact instead of indulging in emotional speeches”, he said.
Mr. Sudarshan said that the suggestions given by Congress on rectifying the lacunae in the GST regime before implementing were not considered, resulting in adverse impact on the country’s economy. He said the party would take these issues before the public during the polls.
