N. Dharam Singh has left his stamp on Raichur district, by implementing many development projects.
He was district in-charge Minister while he held the Public Works portfolio during the then Chief Minister S.M. Krishna’s term.
Remembering the veteran leader’s contribution, N.S. Boseraju, MLC and secretary of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee, told The Hindu that he had taken up many development works, more particularly road upgradation works, when he was Public Works Minister.
Upgradation of State highways from Shakti Nagar to Ginigera village in Koppal district and Kalmala to Lingsugur under the Karnataka State Highway Improvement Project (K-SHIP) at a cost of ₹ 354 crore were among the significant works that the former implemented in the district.
The Congressman also formed a committee to study and prepare a ground report to upgrade the Agriculture College into the University of Agricultural Sciences in Raichur when some objections were raised.
Later, he took a decision to establish the Agricultural University at Raichur after bifurcating it from UAS, Dharwad.
“His departure was not only great loss to the Congress but also for Hyderabad Karnataka region,” the MLC said, in his condolences.
