Nobel laureate and founder of Grameen Bank of Bangladesh Mohammed Yunus inaugurated the Major S. Nanjundaiah and Shanta Nanjundaiah Cancer Centre at Narayana Multispeciality Hospital here on Friday.

With a built-up area of 30,000 square feet, the cancer centre at Narayana Multispeciality hospital will provide services for the detection, prevention and treatment of all types of cancer.

Declaring the centre open, Prof. Yunus said it was important to ensure health care to the poorest of the poor in society. Citing the concept of social business he seeks to propagate, Prof. Yunus said it was possible to provide health care to even people at the ‘bottom’ of society’s ladder.
