Uttara Kannada Deputy Commissioner Ujwal Kumar Ghosh has instructed officials and owners of tankers supplying drinking water to compulsorily install global positioning system, according to a report that reached here on Tuesday.

He was addressing officials at a meeting here recently.

“There should not be any hitch in the water supply. In case there is a problem, water should be supplied through tankers. Installing GPS is to keep the process transparent,” he said. Mr. Ghosh sought details from officials on tankers that supply drinking water.
