N. Chandre Gowda, Deputy Director of Public Instruction, has said that schools that have been producing zero per cent results in the SSLC examination will be closed down. If this happens, then it will be for the first time in over 10 years that such schools will face the wrath of the government.
All the five schools with zero pass percentage in the district are run by private managements, without receiving government aid. One of the schools has been producing zero per cent results for the last three years, while the other has done so for two years.
“We have given them enough rope. But now we have to act,’’ Anurag Tewari, Deputy Commissioner, said.
“We have tried to improve their performance by involving them in teacher and student training … we also give them other benefits. We have also warned them from time-to-time to act. But they have not improved. It is the interest of the students to close down such schools,” he said.
Meanwhile, the district administration has decided to felicitate 14 schools that have achieved 100 per cent results.
