Govt. ready to hire private doctors as consultants: U.T. Khader

January 28, 2014 03:07 pm | Updated May 13, 2016 12:54 pm IST - BANGALORE:

Minister for Health U.T. Khader on Monday told the Legislative Council that the government is ready to hire the services of private doctors, on consultancy basis, in hospitals that do not have specialists.

Replying to BJP member Bharathi Shetty during Question Hour in the Legislative Council, the Minister said the government was willing to pay private doctors either on the basis of number of hours or the number of patients attended by them.

“We are ready to hire them even if they want to work only twice a week,” he said. Government is also considering providing opportunities for doctors to take up postgraduation in a bid to attract them to government service.
