The State government has urged industries, factories and commercial establishments to give a day’s paid holiday to its employees to facilitate them to cast their votes in the gram panchayat elections scheduled to be held in Mysuru on May 29.
In industries that function continuously, employers should provide their staff two-hour time to cast their votes in the election, according to a circular issued by the Director of Factories and Boilers, Bengaluru.
Mysuru Industries Association (MIA) has urged all industries and factories in the declare a day’s paid holiday for their employees and continuously functioning industries to provide their staff two-hour break to cast their votes in the gram panchayat elections. Meanwhile, all arrangements are in place for the gram panchayat elections to elect 4,487 members.
Though 4,744 members are to be elected to 1,848 constituencies in 266 gram panchayats in Mysuru district, as many as 242 members have already been elected unopposed.
A total of 13,339 contenders will be vying for a total of 4,487 posts. The total electorate comprises 14,09,576 including 6,91,548 women and 7,18,028 men.
Voters can produce either the electoral photo identity card or any of the 21 documents approved by the State Election Commission.
