Daily wage workers attached to various departments staging a protest outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Mandya on Monday.

A group of government daily wage workers staged a sit-in protest outside the office of the Deputy Commissioner here on Monday demanding regularisation of service.

They also demanded equal pay for equal work, increase in wages and social security benefits from the State government.

“We have been working with various departments on daily-wages basis for the last several years. We have been staging protests and submitting memorandums to the State government demanding regularisation of our service. However, so far no action has been taken,” they told The Hindu.

They urged the State government to provide minimum wages and other facilities as per the government order to the contract labourers.
