Govt committed to implement drinking water projects: Jayachandra

Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, T.B. Jayachandra said that government is committed to implement drinking water projects in the district to address the drinking water problem.

After inaugurating a one day seminar on "Irrigation and agricultural problems" at the Zilla Panchayat here on Friday, Mr. Jayachandra said that the farmers in the district are suffering due to scanty rainfall and decrease in the ground water table. He said the yield of the commercial crops has come down due to drought in the district.

He said that continuous struggle, efforts and political will are necessary for the implementation of the irrigation and drinking water projects.

He said that there is a delay in the implementation of irrigation and drinking water projects due to problems related to land acquisition and environment.

He said Upper Bhadra Project has got the administrative approval and the construction work will be taken up shortly.

MP, S.P. Muddahanumegowda, Chairman of Karnataka Media Academy, M.A. Ponnappa and others were present.
