Bharatiya Janata Party State general secretary Shobha Karandlaje has urged Governor Vajubhai Vala to sack Maheshchandra Guru, professor, journalism department, University of Mysore, for allegedly violating the conduct and civil service rules by “abusing” Prime Minister Narendra Modi for banning cow slaughter.

In a letter to the Governor, a copy of which was released to the press on Tuesday, Ms. Karandlaje alleged that Prof. Guru was the brains behind organising the controversial event at Kalamandir in Mysuru on Sunday, in which beef was eaten by some dignitaries.

She alleged that Prof. Guru had criticised and abused the Prime Minister during the event.

Ms. Karandlaje appealed to the Governor, who is also the Chancellor of the university, to initiate action and ensure that the “tendency to violate rules and take people in high positions for granted is crushed.”
