Stressing on women empowerment, Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala said here on Saturday that opportunities should be given to women to excel in all fields.

Addressing a gathering at Yenepoya University, Deralakatte, after inaugurating various facilities, he said that women were more sincere in their work when compared to men. Opportunities should be given to them to come up.

Mr. Vala said that he observed that about 70 per cent of gold medallists in universities in the State were women. Earlier women did not have access to education but now they have, and more opportunities should be created for them.

The Governor inaugurated advanced comprehensive clinical training and simulation centre, centre for systems biology and molecular medicine, stem cells and regenerative medicine centre and robotic surgery unit at the university.

He said that the country had the potential to develop advanced technologies in various sectors; opportunities would have to be created to showcase and use them.
