Government considering extending free Wi-fi facility to entire State

The State government is considering extending the free Wi-fi facility being given to people in some areas to the entire State, according to IT and BT Minister S. R. Patil. However, a final decision in this regard is yet to be made by the government.

In his written reply to Congress member Yashwanthrayagouda Vittalagouda Patil in the Assembly on Thursday, the minister said presently the government was in the process of preparing Request For Proposal (RFP) documents with respect to inviting bids from the companies for providing free wi-fi facility in Bengaluru and prominent places of all the districts.

He said presently free wi-fi facilities were being given in parts of Bengaluru, Mysuru and Bagalkote.
