E.V. Ramana Reddy, district in-charge secretary, has instructed officials to open goshalas in each taluk to nurse cattle of drought-affected farmers.

At a meeting on the Bidar zilla panchayat premises on Saturday, he asked officials to ensure that goshalas have shade, fodder, water and the service of a veterinarian. Officials informed him that 22 fodder banks and one goshala had been started in the district till now.

Dr. Reddy asked officials to install motors and provide power connections to all the borewells sunk for drinking water in rural and urban areas. He said that delay in taking up drinking water works or in energising borewells would not be tolerated. He asked officials to take over private water sources to supply water to neighbouring areas.

He visited a goshala started at Changlera in Humnabad taluk in the morning.

Anurag Tewari, Deputy Commissioner, Pavan Kumar Malpati, ZP Chief Executive Officer, and others were present.
