Bengaluru: An inspector was suspended on Tuesday for refusing to register a complaint against three goons who assaulted two beat constables on Saturday.

Constables Vittal and Tirupathy of Vivek Nagar police station were on night beat in plainclothes when they came across George, Sunil and Karthik, a habitual offender, near a Ganesh temple in Vannarpet. When questioned for loitering in the middle of the night, the trio beat up Vittal and Tirupathy before fleeing.

A senior officer said, "The constables tried to lodge a complaint. But Inspector Vijay Hadagali refused to file a complaint and tried to hush up the case. A few people posted about the incident on the police department’s Twitter page." Deputy CP (Central Division ) Sandeep Patil visited the station on Tuesday and ensured that a case was registered.
