The Belgaum Chapter of Google Developers Group (GDG) will organise a two-day ‘Belgaum DevFests’ at Karnataka Law Society’s Gogte Institute of Technology here from November 8.

According to a press release issued here on Saturday, the GDG DevFests are large, community-run events that offer speaker sessions across multiple product areas, daylong hackathons, code labs, and more for the benefit of the student community. This event is being organised for the first time in the city, which is part of global GDayX (community driven annual event of Google). It will be two packed days of talks and workshops revolving around popular technologies.

The major events of the programme include Code Labs on Python/Pydoop by Illiyas Shirol from Inmobi; Chrome apps by Manish Chiniwalar from Multunus Software; Android apps by Rahul Janagouda; ‘Google for students’ by Kartik Verma; Google Student Ambassador GIT; Google Cloud Developer Challenge, with a chance to win prizes that include Android devices and up to 20,000 USD; Google quiz by Anvith K.S. from 3iGlobal Inc; ‘Becoming a student entrepreneur with Google Technologies’ by Sandeep Hegde, dotCORD.

The Google Developer Groups are a community of passionate developers who code, collaborate and contribute to the community. The community aims to learn and share about Google Developer Technologies — starting from Android to app engine platforms, various APIs and everything that you can imagine in this particular domain.

GDG Belgaum is an open and non-profit group which aims to achieve the stated aims in the Belgaum region. It completed one year recently.
