Mandali to celebrate golden jubilee

The golden jubilee celebrations of the Sri Nandikeshwara Yakshagana Kala Mandali, Matapady, will be inaugurated at Brahmavar on August 2.

Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, M. Chandrashekhar Suvarna, president of the celebrations committee, said that the mandali had been organising Yakshagana, talamaddale and Hoovina Kolu shows for the last five decades, to promote Yakshagana.

To mark the golden jubilee of the organisation, it has been decided to construct a community hall, a compound wall, and other construction work at its premises in Matapady, totalling Rs. 30 lakh.

A talamaddale, ‘Vali Moksha’, would be held during the inauguration of the golden jubilee celebrations at the Sri Mahalingeshwara Temple premises in Brahmavar on Sunday. N.B. Vijay Ballal, managing trustee of Ambalpady Temples, will inaugurate the celebrations. Pramod Madhwaraj, MLA, will preside over the inaugural function, Mr. Kalkura said.
