Gold ornaments stolen from Hassan bank

In a major heist, gold ornaments worth over crores of rupees was stolen from Cauvery Grammena Bank’s branch at Hirisave in Channarayapatna taluk on Sunday night.

The thieves entered the bank by drilling a hole in the bank’s wall. They made away with gold ornaments and cash.

Ravi D. Channannavar, Superintendent of Police, told The Hindu , “So far value of stolen ornaments is not clear. The bank officials are saying that it can be nearly Rs. 4 to Rs.5 crore. Now they are calculating the verifying the documents”, he said.

Further he said earlier also an attempt was made to take away valuables in the bank. “We had instructed the bank officers to take precautionary measures such as appointing security and installing cameras. We will see that if they have implemented our suggestions”, he added.
