‘We will speak to Congress leaders in Goa’

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has said that since BJP was in power in Goa, the Chief Minister of the State should take the Opposition parties into confidence first on the issue of initiating a dialogue on resolving the long pending Mahadayi row.

He told presspersons at Hubballi Airport, during a stopover en route Gadag on Saturday, that every State would have its say on issues concerning its interests. “Now BJP is in power in Goa. So, Mr. Manohar Parrikar should take the Opposition into confidence before taking a stand on the issue. On our part, we will speak to the leaders of Congress party in Goa.”

Mr. Siddaramaiah said that unable to take a positive step in resolving the long pending Mahadayi issue, the BJP leaders were trying to blame the State government in Karnataka.

On allegation of vengeance politics by him, Mr. Siddaramaiah sought to clarify that there was no question of politics in cases against former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa. Steps were being taken as per the law and the investigations were being conducted within the legal framework.

To a query, the Chief Minister said there were leads in the Gauri Lankesh murder case, but he could not share the details with the media.

Criticising the Union government for failing to bring down the prices of petroleum products despite the prices of crude oil registering significant decline in the international market, Mr. Siddaramaiah said that the State government would raise the issue of bringing petroleum products under the ambit of GST at the meeting of the GST council.
