The glass casing of a grotto of Mother Mary at a prayer hall near Thokkottu was damaged due to stone throwing on Tuesday night. The incident came to light on Wednesday morning.

Police Commissioner, S. Murugan said a miscreant must have thrown a stone on the glass casing of St Joseph Vaz Prayer Hall. Except for the glass casing nothing else has been damaged. Mr. Murugan said there were no close circuit cameras outside the prayer hall.

According to eye witness accounts, a few boys were seen near the prayer hall on Tuesday night. The suspicion is on these boys, who are the local residents.

In the complaint, Vincent D'Souza, the administrator of the prayer hall, said the damage was noticed by Alwyn, a volunteer, who had come to clean the prayer hall.

The police are on the look out for the persons involved in the incident.
