Give us salary, say distillery employees

June 15, 2013 10:25 am | Updated July 01, 2016 06:52 pm IST - Mandya:

Employees of Wilson Distillery in Gende Hosahalli of Srirangapatna taluk, under the banner of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), staged a demonstration outside the Srirangapatna taluk office on Friday. They alleged that Wilson Distillery had stopped paying salaries several months ago.

Protesters took out a rally from the Bangalore–Mysore Highway to the taluk office.

The employees said they had been working for several years without regular salaries and other facilities. Repeated protests have done nothing to improve this situation, they added. Protesters urged the district administration to intervene, and said either the Deputy Commissioner or Srirangapatna tahsildar should take action.
