A case of sale of baby girl has emerged after four months of the incidence taking place at Boopara Thanda in Pavagada taluk in Tumakuru district.

When the Child Development Project Officer, Usha visited Boopara Thanda on May 22 to review the food distributed to the children, she found that one particular baby has not been given food for the past four months. She was told that the baby’ss mother had refused to take the food.

Upon enquiry, the baby’s mother, Soundarya said that since she already had a daughter, her husband, Ramachandra Naik allegedly told her to kill the next baby if it turned out to be a girl.

So a few days after the baby girl was born, to save her life, Soundarya, gave the baby to a person running a foot-ware shop.

But when enquired at the foot-ware shop, no such person was been found. Ms. Usha has filed a complaint with the Thirumani police station.
