The Karnataka High Court on Thursday directed the Chief Secretary to take remedial action to avoid litigation on the inaction of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to prevent unauthorised structures and construction of buildings that deviate from the bylaws.

‘File report’

Observing that the BBMP Commissioner appears to be taking “everything in an easy and relaxed manner” though it is his statutory duty to initiate action against officials colluding with such violations, Justice Ram Mohan Reddy asked the Chief Secretary to submit the action taken report by October 3.

The court passed the order during the hearing of a petition filed by C. Suma, a doctor at the ESI Hospital, Nelamangala.
