Rashtriya Puraskar to vocalist Venkatesh Kumar
Kala Dharohar, which has been organising concerts to promote classical music in Hubballi, will present ‘Gangubai Hangal Rashtriya Puraskar’ to Hindustani vocalist Venkatesh Kumar this month.
The award will be conferred during the 10th Gangubai Hangal Sangeet Mahotsav to be held at Samskrutika Bhavan at New Cotton Market in Hubballi on October 28 and 29.
According to a release issued here, on the first day of the fest, vocalist from Mumbai Gauri Parthare and flute exponent from Mumbai Ronu Majumdar will perform. The concerts will begin at 5.30 p.m. On the second day, vocalist from Pune Sawani Shende will perform at 9 a.m. and sitar exponent Purbayan Chatterjee will perform at 5 p.m..
The award will be conferred on Venkatesh Kumar on the second day and subsequently he will perform.
