Gandhian, ex-MLA Jnanadev Doddameti dead

Gandhlian and former MLA Jnanadev Doddameti, known for his honesty and social service, passed away at his native village Jakkali in Ron taluk of Gadag district on Wednesday. He was 85.

He was the eldest son of Andanappa Doddameti, known for his role in unification of Karnataka.

As a member of the Janata Party, Jnanadev Doddameti had represented Ron Assembly segment twice. But after his defeat in his third election, he retired from politics saying that the people had rejected him.

With a postgraduate degree in Kannada, he worked as a journalist for sometime. He has written poems and stories and has two books to his credit.
