Late Deputy Superintendent of Police M.K. Ganapathy’s son Nehal Ganapathy moved a Madikeri court on Monday seeking a direction to the Kodagu police to take up investigation against Minister for Bengaluru Development K.J. George and two IPS officers for allegedly abetting his father’s suicide.
Ganapathy’s wife Pawan and son Nehal had lodged a complaint with the Kushalanagar police on Sunday against Mr. George and IPS officers A.M. Prasad and Pronab Mohanty.
Contending that the police had rejected the complaint lodged by them on Sunday, Mr. Nehal filed a private criminal complaint in the court of Additional JMFC, Madikeri, on Monday requesting the court to refer the matter to the Superintendent of Kodagu district police for investigation.
The complainant claimed that his father had made a “dying declaration” in which he had named Mr. George and the two IPS officers responsible for his death. As per the confession, the acts of Mr. George and two police officials amount to “abetting the commission of suicide”, he said in the complaint.
The complainant contended that the accused were highly placed and influential people, who have prevailed upon the police from taking action against them. Hence, the complainant has appealed to the court to take cognisance of the offence, “which is punishable under Section 306 of IPC R/w 34 of IPC” and refer the matter to the Superintendent of Kodagu district police.
