The Forensic Science Laboratory report has confirmed that the petrol at the fuel station on Mysuru-Bengaluru Road near K.R. Mills was adulterated and it was sold to many customers on February 17.
Based on a complaint that adulterated petrol was being sold at the petrol station, Senior Deputy Director of Food and Civil Supplies Department K. Rameshwarappa along with officials of Legal Meteorology, Circle Inspector of Police from Narasimharaja police station, and area sales manager of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, had raided the petrol station and verified documents with regard to purchase, storage, sale and density of fuel.
Mr. Rameshwarappa told The Hindu that though the team was convinced that the petrol was adulterated, samples were sent to the FSL for examination. Meanwhile the authorities have sealed the petrol station pending an inquiry.
The Senior Deputy Director said that the FSL had sent a report stating that petrol was adulterated and water was found in it.
A few customers registered their complaints against the petrol station that indulged in selling the adulterated petrol, he said, adding that after a detailed inquiry into it, the department would initiate suitable action against the petrol station.
