With just three months left for the present Legislative Assembly’s term to end, several members got together for a group photograph on Wednesday in front of the Vidhana Soudha just before the day’s session commenced.

Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, Deputy Chief Ministers R. Ashok and K.S. Eshwarappa, Speaker K.G. Bopaiah, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister S. Suresh Kumar and several ruling and Opposition members participated in the photo session.

There was much mirth and camaraderie and political differences were buried, at least for a while, as everyone seemed willing to ‘say cheese’.

Conspicuous by their absence were the two principal leaders of the Opposition, Siddaramaiah and Janata Dal (Secular) floor leader H.D. Revanna. Many of those who did not pose for the group photo said they were unaware of the programme or had simply forgotten about it.

The ongoing budget session is likely to be the last session of the 13th Legislative Assembly. The session comes to end on Friday. The State is likely to go to polls in April or May.
