Four policemen suspended for Malur undertrial escape

Vijaykumar, the undertrial, escaped from the custody of Malur police in the early hours of Thursday.

Superintendent of Police Ram Nivas Sepat has suspended four police personnel, including a sub-inspector of police, on the charge of dereliction of duty and negligence in connection with the escape of an undertrial from Malur police custody on Thursday.

Malur station Sub-Inspector of Police Manjunath, head constable Thimmarayappa, constables Nagaraj Rao and Rajendra Prasad are the suspended personnel.

Mr. Sepat initiated the action following a report submitted by the Deputy Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar who conducted an inquiry into the incident.

Vijaykumar, the undertrial, escaped from the custody of Malur police in the early hours of Thursday. Two teams have been formed to arrest the fugitive, Mr. Sepat told The Hindu on Friday.
