Hi-tech veterinary hospitals will be established in all the four revenue divisions in the State , according Minister for Animal Husbandry and district in-charge T.B. Jayachandra.
He said that each revenue division will get one hi-tech veterinary hospital. One such hospital will come up in Tumkur city, which comes under Bangalore revenue division. At least five acres of land is needed for the project, which will be launched this year, he added.
The Minister was speaking after inaugurating a national eye donation awareness programme here on Sunday. He underlined the need for spreading awareness on eye donation and its benefits to society. There is demand for 5 lakh eyes every year in the State, but only 2 lakh eyes are being donated, the Minister added.
Minister Jayachandra, MP G.S. Basavaraju and MLC M.R. Hulinayakar pledged their eyes at the programme.
Drinking water
During another programme, Minister Jayachandra said that Hemavati River water would be supplied to Hagalawadi village in Gubbi taluk.
He was responding to the protest that the farmers of the village staged on Sunday demanding drinking water supply.
