Four held on rape charge

The Bheemaryanagudi police arrested four persons in connection with the rape of a minor girl in Yadgir village recently.

The four accused allegedly raped the minor girl and filmed the incident on a mobile phone, on the outskirts of Hulkal village in Shahpur taluk of Yadgir district.

The police gave the name of the accused as Somanna Pujari, Sharanappa, Sakreppa and Mallikarjun.

The incident occurred on March 24 and a case was registered after the victim filed a complaint on Sunday, Superintendent of Police Vinayaka Patil told The Hindu on Monday. The victim was referred to the district general hospital in Yadgir for medical examination. Mr. Patil said that cases under sections of the Indian Penal Code, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, Information Technology Act and Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act had been filed against the accused.

The police are examining video clippings of the incident, which was reportedly circulated in the social media.
