Revenue Department officials seized four buses belonging to the various educational institutions, run by the Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society, for not clearing the pending clinical fee dues for the Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College using the government hospital as a teaching hospital.

The government had issued notices to the society for clearing Rs. 45.27 lakh prior to the college constructing the Basaveshwar Teaching and General Hospital in 2002-03.

The officials who tried to seize the vehiclescouple of days back returned empty handed since all the vehicleswere not to be found in the college.

On Monday, government officials raided S. Nijalingappa Dental College and seized two buses and seized one bus each from PDA College of Engineering and HKE Societies Nursing Colleges.

Fearing more seizures, the authorities of all educational institutions moved their vehicles from the college premises and currently, none of the colleges provide transport facilities to their students.

When contacted, the Principal and Dean of the Medical College Mallikarjun Bhandari confirmed that four buses have been seized and said that the reason for the non-clearance of dues was the dispute between the medical college and the government.

“The society had pleaded with the government to treat the dues as the charges to the service rendered by the doctors of the college in the government hospital for 45 more days after the college stopped using the government hospital as teaching hospital.”

“We have already paid Rs 10 lakh of the dues after the government rejected our plea and demanded payment of dues and another sum of Rs 12.6 lakh was being paid today and remaining amount would be cleared before the end of April this year,” Dr Bhandari added.
