Foundation stone for railway overbridge laid

Shivaraj Tangadagi, Minister of State for Minor Irrigation and district in-charge, laid the foundation stone for the commencement of work on a railway overbridge at the railway gate near Bhagyanagar here on Sunday.

The bridge will be built at an estimated cost of Rs. 20.32 crore, with the cost being shared equally by the Union and State governments.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Tangadagi said that the railway overbridge was expected to be completed in about 15 months. Once work is completed, people of Bhagyanagar area will be free of impediments.

While thanking Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for evincing keen interest towards development of Koppal district by allocating more funds, Mr. Tangadagi said that tenders had been invited for the construction of flyovers on the national highway passing through Kushtagi. He promised to get funds for work on other national and State highways passing through the district.

Sanganna Karadi, MP, in his address, said that tenders for upgrading National Highway 63 between Hubballi and Koppal into a four lane was likely to be called by this month-end and that his efforts was to get concrete road laid.

Raghavendra Hitnal, MLA, also spoke. S.B. Nagarahalli, Zilla Panchayat president, Mahendra Chopra, City Municipal Council president, Syed Jullu Khadri, Koppal Urban Development Authority chairman, K. Virupakshappa, Shivaramegouda, both former MPs, were present.
