The former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Thursday reiterated that there was no question of returning to the BJP and clarified that there was no question of merging the Karnataka Janata Paksha (KJP) with the former. Speaking to presspersons here, Mr. Yeddyurappa said that at most the KJP could have an alliance with the BJP as it wanted Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to be the next prime minister. He said that his immediate priority was strengthening his party as the Lok Sabha elections were coming. He said that the party had set a goal of winning at least 10 seats in the parliamentary elections. He said that the party would identify parliamentary constituencies where it stood a better chance of winning and then he would visit segments in those constituencies. He would spend two days in each of these segments to strengthen the party from the grassroots. Mr. Yeddyurappa clarified that he was open to having a tie-up with the BJP only because he wanted an able leader to lead the country. He said that Mr. Narendra Modi had the ability to lead the country and the party had decided to support the National Democratic Alliance only for the sake of making him the prime minister.
