Fleeing thieves throw stones at policeman

A police constable attached to Konanur police station in Arkalgud taluk suffered minor injuries after being hit by stones by thieves, who were stealing away valuables from a jewellery shop at Konanur in the early hours of Sunday. Yoge Gowda, the police constable, was on the night beat, when the incident occurred. The Konanur police said, a group of five people broke open the Mahalakshmi Jewellers in the village at around 2 a.m. Residents close to the shop alerted the police about the incident. As soon as Mr. Yoge Gowda reached the spot, the miscreants fled the scene with valuables, throwing stones at him. Shop owner Harish has filed a complaint. Value of the stolen valuables is yet to be assessed.
