Flash floods claim a life in Bellary

One person was washed away in flash floods that occurred in Kollur nallah in Bellary taluk on Saturday morning, following heavy rains since Friday night.

According to information reaching the district headquarters, Nagaraj (20), a resident of Karur village, 30 km from the city, was taking the cattle for grazing when he was washed away in the floods while crossing the nallah.

On getting the information, personnel from the Fire and Emergency Service, Home guards and the police rushed to the spot. They have been trying to rescue the body.

Bellary taluk experienced rainfall of 66.8 mm on FridayStorm water gushed into houses and inundating low-lying areas in the taluk.

Hospet and Sirguppa taluk recorded 18.2 mm rainfall each, Hadagali 14.2 mm, Kudligi 9.2 mm, Sandur 8.6 mm and Hagari Bommanahalli 5.4 mm.
