Five persons died on the spot and four others injured in an head on collusion between a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) and a sugarcane laden truck near Mahagoan cross on the National Highway connecting Jewargi with Humnabad around 1.00 AM on Friday.
The victims and four others injured were travelling in the SUV which was severely damaged. The injured have been shifted to the Basaveshwar Teaching and General Hospital, whose condition was stated to be out of danger. The driver of the truck has escaped.
The victims were returning to Basavakalyan in Bidar district after attending a marriage in Gulbarga city when the accident took place.
