Five people, including a child, died when the car in which they were travelling fell into Bhadra canal in Navule-Basapura village in Bhadravathi taluk on Tuesday night.
The deceased, identified as Baby (50), Netravathi (41), Sahana (21), Abhilasha (20) and Dhanush (10), belong to the same family.
Lost control
The police have said that the driver lost control of the vehicle while they were on the bridge, owing to which it fell into the canal.
Two injured
Two others who were injured in the accident have been hospitalised. A case has been registered with Bhadravathi rural police.
